The martyrdom of James and the imprisonment of Peter

1 At that time King Herod began to punish some of the people in the church.
Acts 12: 1

2 For Herod commanded John, the brother of John, to be slain with the sword.
Acts 12: 2

3 When he saw that it pleased the Jews, he proceeded to seize Peter also. This happened during the Jewish holiday of Passover.
Acts 12: 3

4 Herod arrested Peter and put him in prison. He assigned sixteen soldiers to watch over him. He wanted to wait for the Passover to pass and then bring Peter before the people.
Acts 12: 4

5So Peter was kept in prison, but the believers kept praying to the Lord for him.

A song of praise to God

1 Sing unto the LORD, O earth;
Psalm 100: 1

2 Rejoice in serving Jehovah.  Come to the Lord with happy songs.
Psalm 100: 2

3 Know that Jehovah is God.  He created us.  We are his people, we are his sheep.
Psalm 100: 3

4 Bring songs of thanksgiving to his city.  Bring songs of praise to his temple.  Praise him and bless his name.
Psalm 100: 4

5 The Lord is good.  His love is eternal.  We can trust him forever.
Psalm 100: 5

1 Greetings from the apostle Paul. I was not chosen by men to be an apostle. I was not sent by people. No Jesus Christ and God the Father made me an apostle. It is God who raised Jesus from the dead.

3I pray that God our Father and our Lord Jesus Christ will give you peace.

4 Jesus died for our sins. Jesus did this to save us from the evil world in which we live. That is what the Father God wanted.
