Healing the possessed

26 Then Jesus and his disciples came across the lake to the country of Girsenia, which is opposite Galilee.

27 When Jesus got off the boat, a man from the city who had a demon came to him. For a long time he neither wore any clothes nor lived in a house, but lived in a cemetery.

28 When he saw Jesus, he cried out with a loud voice and fell at his feet and cried out in a loud voice, “O Jesus! Son of the Most High God, what do you want from me? I beg you please don’t hurt me!” He said this because Jesus commanded the evil spirit to leave the man’s body. The demon had possessed that man several times. On such occasions, even though his feet and hands were chained and kept in prison, he would break the chains and the demon would force him to go to deserted places.

29 Because he was ordering the unclean spirit to come out of the man, the evil spirit that kept coming into him. Many times people would keep him under guard with chains and shackles but he would break the bonds. The evil spirit chased him in the wilderness.

30 Jesus asked him, “What is your name?” The man answered, “Army,” because he was possessed by many demons.

31 The demons begged Jesus not to send them into the abyss of darkness.
Luke 8:31

32 A large herd of pigs was grazing on that hill, and the demons begged Jesus to let them enter the pigs. So Jesus gave them permission.
Luke 8:32

33 The demons came out of the man and entered the pigs. Then the whole herd of pigs ran down the slope from the top of the hill and fell into the lake. All the pigs drowned.

34 When the swineherds saw all this, they fled from there and reported this news to all the people who were in the fields and cities.

35 And when the people went out to see all this, they came to Jesus and found the man sitting at Jesus’ feet. Now the man was groomed and his mind was right because the demons had left him.
Luke 8:35

36 Seeing all this, the people were terrified. Those who had seen how Jesus had comforted him explained to others how Jesus had healed the man.

37 Then all the people of the region of Girsenia begged Jesus to go away from there, because they were all very afraid. So Jesus got into the boat and returned to Galilee.

38 The man whom he had healed begged to go with Jesus.
Luke 8:38

39 But Jesus sent the man away, saying, “Go back to your house and tell the people what God has done for you.” So the man went throughout the city and told what Jesus had done for him. .

God’s glory in creation

1 The heavens speak of the glory of God. The heavens represent the good things that God’s hands have made.

2 Each day tells more stories about him. And each night reveals more of God’s power.

5 The sky is like a house for the sun. The sun rises just as the bridegroom comes out of his bedroom. The sun begins its course in the sky like an athlete eager to run his race.

6 The sun begins at one end of the sky, and one essence runs to the other end. No one can save himself from its heat. Jehovah’s teachings are like this. It makes people wise who are fools.

25 You must stop lying. You must always speak the truth to one another because we are members of one body.

26 When you are angry, do not let your anger cause you to sin. Do not continue to be angry all day.

30 Do not grieve the Holy Spirit. The Spirit is the evidence that you belong to God. God gave this spirit to show you that God will deliver you at the right time.

31 Put away from yourselves all bitterness, wrath, clamor and slander with all evil.

32 Be kind and love others. Forgive one another just as God in Christ forgave you.
