The martyrdom of James and Peter in captivity

1 At that time King Herod began to punish some of the people in the church.
Acts 12: 1

2 Herod commanded that James, the brother of John, be slain with the sword.
Acts 12: 2

3 When he saw that it pleased the Jews, he proceeded to seize Peter also. This happened during the Jewish holiday of Passover.
Acts 12: 3

4 Herod arrested Peter and put him in prison. He assigned sixteen soldiers to watch over him. He wanted to wait for the Passover to pass and then bring Peter before the people.
Acts 12: 4

5So Peter was kept in prison, but the believers kept praying to the Lord for him.
