
1 And passing through Amphipolis and Apollonia, they came to Thessalonica, where there was a synagogue of the Jews.
Acts 17: 1
2 And Paul entered into the synagogue, and reasoned with them, as he [was] on the sabbath day about the Scriptures for three weeks.
Acts 17: 2
3 Paul explained the Scriptures in detail to the Jews, proving that Christ must suffer and then rise from the dead. And Paul said, This Jesus, whom I speak to you, is the Christ.
Acts 17: 3
4 Some Jews believed and decided to join Paul and Silas. Very important Greek men and women also joined them in worshiping the true God. And a great company of men and women followed Paul and Silas.
Acts 17: 4
5 But the Jews were jealous of those who did not believe. They hired some bad guys from the city and those bad guys followed a lot of people and caused riots in the city. They went to Jason’s house to look for him, so that they could bring him before the people.
Acts 17: 5
6 But when they found not Paul and Silas, they dragged away Jason and certain other believers, and brought them before the rulers of the city, and said, They have afflicted all the world. And now they have come here too.
Acts 17: 6
7 Jason hid them in his house, and they all do things that are against the law of Caesar. And they say that there is another king named Jesus.

8 When the crowd and the leaders heard this, they were very upset.
