
1 The Lord said to Moses,
Leviticus 19: 1
2 “Tell all the people of Israel; I am the Lord your God. I am holy, so you must be holy too.

3 “Every one of you should honor his parents and keep all my days of rest. I am the Lord your God.
Leviticus 19: 3
4 “Don’t turn away from my worthless idols. Do not make idols for yourself. I am the Lord your God.

5 “When you offer a fellowship offering to the Lord, you must offer it properly so that you may be accepted.
Leviticus 19: 5
6 You may eat it on the day you offer it and the next day. But if any of it remains for the third day, you shall burn it with fire.
Leviticus 19: 6
7 You shall not eat of it on the third day. It will be disrespectful and will not be accepted.
Leviticus 19: 7
8 Whoever does this will be guilty of sin. For he hath profaned a holy thing, which is the LORD’s. He must be separated from his people.

9 “When you reap your harvest, you shall not reap to the very edges of your field.
Leviticus 19: 9
10 Do not pluck all the grapes from your vineyard, and do not pick up the grapes that have fallen to the ground. Because you should leave these things to the poor and those who travel in your country. I am the Lord your God.
Leviticus 19:10
11 “You must not steal. You must not deceive people. You must not lie to each other.
Leviticus 19:11
12 You shall not swear falsely in my name. If you do, you will dishonor the name of your God. I am the Lord.

13 “You must not hurt your neighbor. You must not rob him. You should not withhold a hired worker’s pay overnight.

14 “You must not dishonor a deaf person. You should not put any obstacle in front of a blind person to make him fall. But you must honor your God. I am the Lord.
Leviticus 19:14
15 “You must be fair in your judgment. You should not show special concessions to the poor or the rich. When you judge your neighbor, you must be fair.
Leviticus 19:15
16 You must not spread false rumors about other people. When your neighbor’s life is in danger, don’t stand there without help. I am the Lord.
Leviticus 19:16
17 “You must not hate your brother in your heart. If your neighbor does something wrong, talk to him about it so you don’t sin.
Leviticus 19:17
18 Do not despise the evil things that people do to you. Don’t try to get revenge. Love your neighbor as yourself. I am the Lord.
Leviticus 19:18
19 “You must obey my laws. You should not mix two different types of animals. You must not sow two kinds of seed in your field. You should not wear clothes made of two types of fabric.
Leviticus 19:19
20 “Sometimes a man can have sex with a woman who is a slave to someone else. But this slave woman has neither been bought nor given freedom. If so, punishment should be meted out. But they will not be put to death. Because the woman was not free.
Leviticus 19:20
21 The man must bring his guilt offering to the Lord at the entrance of the Meeting Tent. The man must bring a ram for the guilt offering.
Leviticus 19:21
22 And the priest shall make an atonement for him, and it shall be forgiven him. He will offer that ram as a guilt offering to the Lord. It will be for the sin of that man. Then that person will have his sins forgiven.
Leviticus 19:22
23 “In the future, you will enter your country. At that time, you will plant many kinds of trees for food. After planting any tree, you should wait three years to eat the fruit of that tree. You should declare its fruit forbidden during these years.
Leviticus 19:23
24 In the fourth year the fruit of that tree will be the Lord’s. It will be a holy gift of praise to the Lord.
Leviticus 19:24
25 Then, in the fifth year, you can eat the fruit of that tree. And the tree will produce more fruit for you. I am the Lord your God.
Leviticus 19:25
26 “You must not eat any meat that still has blood in it.” You should not try to use magic or black magic to tell the future.

27 “You must not shave the hair that grows on one side of your head. You should not shave the beard around your face.
Leviticus 19:27
28 You must not make wounds on the body to remind the dead. You should not tread on your body. I am the Lord.
Leviticus 19:28
29 Thou shalt not uncover the nakedness of thy daughter in law: she is thy son’s wife; Do not do this in the earth and do not fill it with evil.

30 “You must not work on my special days of rest. You must honor my holy place. I am the Lord.
Leviticus 19:30
31 “Don’t go to the demons or the wise for advice. Don’t go near them, they will only make you unclean. I am the Lord your God.

32 “Honor the elders. When they come into the room, stand up. Honor your God. I am the Lord.
Leviticus 19:32
33 “Do no harm to the foreigners living in your country.
Leviticus 19:33
34 You should treat foreigners as your own citizens. Love strangers as you would yourselves. Why? Because at one time you too were a foreigner in Egypt. I am the Lord your God.

35 “You must be fair in judging people. And you also have to be fair when you measure or weigh things.
Leviticus 19:35
36 Your baskets should be the right size and your jars should have the right amount of fluids. Your scales and weights should be of the correct weight. I am the Lord your God. I brought you out of the land of Egypt.

37 “You must remember all my rules and regulations. And you must obey them. I am the Lord. ”
