The promise of the Holy Spirit

15 “If you love me, you will keep my commandments.
John 14:15

16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Comforter, to be with you always.
John 14:16

17 The helper is the spirit of truth. This world cannot get him. Because the world has neither seen him nor knows him. But you know him, he lives with you, and he will be in you.
John 14:17

18 “I will not leave you alone as orphans. I will return to you.
John 14:18

19 Soon the people of this world will not see me, but you will see, because if I live, you will also live.
John 14:19

20 In that day you will know that I am in the Father, and you will know that I am in you, and I in you.
John 14:20

21 If anyone knows my commandments and keeps them, he is the one who truly loves me. My father will love that person too. Whoever loves me, I love him, and I will reveal myself to him. ”
John 14:21

22 Then said Judas (this is not Judas Iscariot), “Lord, why are you going to show us yourself and why don’t you show the world?”
John 14:22

23 Jesus said, “If anyone loves me, he will keep my words, and my Father will love him. My father and I will come to him and stay with him.
John 14:23

24 But he that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings. The teachings I give you are not my own, but those of my Father who sent me.
John 14:24

25 These things have I spoken unto you, being yet present with you.
John 14:25

26 But the Helper is the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name. He will teach you everything and he will remind you of everything I have told you.
John 14:26

27 “I leave peace for you. I give you my peace. I give you a different kind of peace from the world, so your heart should not be sad and nervous.
John 14:27

28 You have heard what I said to you. I told you, ‘I am going, but I will come back to you.’ Greater than me
John 14:28

29 For I have told you before it come to pass, that, when it is come to pass, ye might believe.
John 14:29

30 “I won’t talk to you for long. The ruler of this world is coming. He has no authority over me.
John 14:30

31 But let the world know that I love the Father. So I will do as my Father commanded me.
John 14:31

The soldiers make fun of Jesus

27 Then Pilate’s soldiers brought Jesus into the governor’s palace, and gathered together all the guards around him.

28 And they stripped him, and put on him a scarlet robe.

29 And they made a crown of thorns, and put it on his head. A stick was held in his right hand. Then the soldiers bowed down to him, and mocked him, saying, Hail, King of the Jews!

30 The soldiers spat on him, and took the rod which was in his hand, and smote him on the head several times.

31 And when they had mocked him, they took off the robe from him, and put his own clothes on him, and led him out to crucify him.

Pray for the courage of the faithful

23 Peter and John left the council and returned to their group. They told him everything that had been said to them by the chief priests and the elders.

24 When the believers heard this, they prayed to God, saying, “Lord, it is you who made the heavens, the earth, the sea, and everything in them.
Acts 4:24

25 Our ancestors, David, were your servants. With the power of the Holy Spirit, he wrote: ‘Why are the nations shouting? Why are the nations plotting against God? This is all nonsense.

26 The kings of the earth prepared themselves for war, and all the rulers of the earth were gathered together against the Lord and his Christ.

27 Jesus is your holy servant, and you made him the Christ. But all this happened when Herod and Pontius Pilate, the Gentiles, and all the people of Israel gathered in Jerusalem against Jesus.

28 These people, gathered together against Jesus, allowed all things to happen, which were foreordained by your power and wisdom.
Acts 4:28

29 And now, Lord, hear. What are they saying They are trying to scare us. O Lord. We are your servants. Help us to speak your message without fear.
Acts 4:29

30 Make us fearless by showing us your power; Heal the sick, show signs; And with the power of his holy servant Jesus, perform mighty signs. ”
Acts 4:30

31 And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost. From then on, they continued to spread God’s message fearlessly.
