Paul’s preaching in Rome

23 Then Paul and the Jews made a schedule for the meeting. Many more Jews came to Paul’s house that day. From morning till night Paul spoke of the kingdom of God. And tried to persuade them to believe in Jesus. He made this attempt by proving the law of Moses and the writings of the prophets.

24 Some of them believed Paul’s words, but others did not.

25 They began to argue with each other. As the Jews were about to leave, Paul told them one more thing:

26 “Go to the people of this nation and tell them; You will hear. But you will not understand. You will see, but you will not understand what you have seen.

27 The wisdom of these people has grown fat. They have ears but they do not hear. These people refuse to see. They will understand. This has happened so that they will return to me to be healed. ‘
Acts 28:27

28 ‘O Jews! I want you to know that God has sent this salvation to the Gentiles, and they will listen. ”

30 Paul stayed in his rented house for two whole years. He welcomed all who came to him.

31 Paul preached the kingdom of God. He preached about the Lord Jesus Christ. He spoke very boldly and no one tried to stop him.

Jesus on the Cross

26 The soldiers took him away to kill him. At that moment, they caught another man who was coming into the city from the field. His name was Simon from the city of Cyrene. The soldiers ordered him to carry Jesus’ cross on his shoulders and follow him.

27 A large crowd followed Jesus. Among them were some women who were crying and beating.

28 But Jesus turned to them and said, “Daughter of Jerusalem! Don’t cry for me Instead, cry for yourself and your children.

29 The time is coming when people will say, ‘Happy are those who are barren and have no children. Blessed are those who do not have suckling babies.

30 ‘Then people will say to the mountains,’ Fall on us. ‘They will say to the hills,’ Cover us. ‘

31 For if people have done this in good times, what do you expect from them in bad times? ”

Christ is the divine power of God

18 The message of the cross seems foolish to those who are lost, but to those who are saved it is the power of God.
1 Corinthians 1:18

19 For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will make the wisdom of the wise vain.
1 Corinthians 1:19

20 Where are the wise men? Where are the scholars? Where are the philosophies of this world? God has made the wisdom of this world foolish.
1 Corinthians 1:20

21 This is what God wanted with his wisdom; The world did not know God by its wisdom. That is why God used a message that seems foolish to save those who believe in it.

22 The Jews demand miracles as proof. The Greeks demanded wisdom.

23 But this is the message that we preach; Christ died on the cross. This is a big problem for the Jews. And to the non-Jews this seems foolish.

24 But unto the elect, both Jews and Greeks, and Christ, the power of God, and the wisdom of God;

25 The foolishness of God is far wiser than the wisdom of men. God’s weakness is also stronger than man’s.

26 Brothers and sisters, God has chosen you. Think about it. Many of you were not wise in the world. As the world judges wisdom. Most of you are not even influential. Most of you were not even from important families.

27 But God hath known the foolishness of the world, to put them to shame. God chose the weakest people in the world to shame the wise.

28 And God chose those whom the world careth not. He chooses people who are hated by the world and think they are useless. God chose them to destroy what the world valued.

29 God did this so that no one could boast before him.
1 Corinthians 1:29

30 God made you members of Christ Jesus. Christ is God-given wisdom for us. By Christ we are justified with God, and free from our sins. We are holy because of Christ.
1 Corinthians 1:30

31 Therefore, as the Scriptures say, “If anyone is proud, let him be proud in the Lord alone.”
