New heavens and a new earth

17 “I will make a new heaven and a new earth. People will not remember the past. They will not remember any of them.
Isaiah 65:17

18 My people will be happy. They will rejoice forever. Why? Because of what I will create. I will build a new Jerusalem full of joy and I will make them happy people.

19 “Then I will rejoice in Jerusalem. I will rejoice with my people. There will be no more weeping and sorrow in that city.

20 There will be no child in that city who is born and lives only for a few days. No one in that city will die young. Every child will live a long life, and every old man will live a long life. The person who lives to be 100 years old will be called young. And people will think that a person who does not live to be 100 years old is cursed.

21 In that city, if anyone builds a house, he will live there. If a man plant a vineyard, he will eat the grapes of that vineyard.

22 Never again will anyone build a house where no one else will live. Never again will anyone plant a garden so that no one else will eat its fruit. My people will live as long as trees. My chosen people will obey the things they make.

23 Women will no longer suffer the pains of childbirth just to give birth to a dead child, women will never be afraid of what will happen at the time of childbirth. All my people and their children will be blessed by the Lord.

24 I will know what they need before they ask. And I will help them even before they ask.

25 The wolf and the lamb will eat together. The lion will eat grass with the ox. But the snake will eat the dust. They will not harm or destroy anyone on my holy mountain. “This is what the Lord said.

Leaders Instructions

17 Elders who lead the congregation well are deserving of great honor. Those who work through great speech and teaching are people who are yogis of great honor.

24 The sins of some people are easy to see. Their sins show that they are guilty before their real judgment. But some people’s sins appear later.

25 So it is with the good works of men. The good deeds of the people are quickly seen. Although those good deeds are not easy to see, they cannot remain hidden.

Death of Herod

20 Herod was very angry with the people of Tire and Sidon. They all came together to Herod. They succeeded in gaining the support of Blastus, the king’s special servant. They begged Herod for peace because his country was getting food from Herod’s country.

21 Herod set a date for them to meet. He was dressed in the most beautiful royal attire that day. He sat on his throne and gave a speech to the people.

22 The people began to shout, “This is the voice of a god, not of a man.”

23 Herod, not praising God, accepted all this praise for himself, so an angel of the Lord gave him a terrible disease. He fell ill and eventually died of worms.

24 And the word of the Lord was multiplied, and waxed exceeding great, and the number of the believers increased;

25 When Barnabas and Saul had finished their work in Jerusalem, they took with them John, also called Mark, and returned to Antioch.
