Paul’s Gratitude After Tragedy

3 Praise be to God and the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. God, our Father, is full of mercy. He is the God who comforts us in every way.
2 Corinthians 1: 3

4 He comforts us whenever we have a problem. So that we may be able to comfort other people when they are in trouble. We give them the same comfort that God gives us.

5 We have become partakers of Christ’s many sufferings. In the same way, we find greater happiness through Christ.

6 If we suffer, it is for our comfort and salvation. If we have comfort from you, it is for your comfort. It also makes us tolerant in our sufferings.

7 We have strong hopes for you. We know that you share in our suffering. We also know that you share in our comforts.

8 We want you, brothers and sisters, to know the trouble we are facing in the land of Asia. We suffered a lot there. It was more than we could bear. We also gave up hope that we would live.

6 A voice said, “Speak!” So one man asked, “What shall I say?” The voice answered, “People do not live forever. They are all like grass and straw. And their goodness is like a wild flower.”

7 The strong wind from the Lord blows on the grass, and the grass dies and the wild flower falls. “Yes, all people are like grass.

8 Wild grass dies and wild flowers fall. But the word of our God endureth for ever.

9 There is good news for you, Zion. Go up high and tell the good news! Jerusalem has good news to tell you. Don’t be afraid, speak up! Tell this news to all the cities of Judah: “Look, your God is here!

10 The Lord God is coming with power. He will use his power to rule over all people. He will reward his people and reward them for their good deeds.

11 Jehovah will lead his people like a shepherd leads his sheep. Jehovah will use his arm to gather his sheep. The Lord will take the lambs and hold them in his arms. Their mothers will walk with him.

The effects of righteousness

1 If we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.

3 Not only this, we also find joy in our sufferings. Why are we happy even in sorrow? Because we know that these troubles make us more comfortable.

4 This patience gives us strong moral strength. And this character gives us hope.

5 And this hope never disappoints us. Because God has poured out his love into our hearts. He has given us his love through the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is a gift from God to us.

6 Christ died for us at the right time while we were still weak and living against God.

7 No one would want to die for a good person. If a person is very good then anyone can be willing to die for him.

8 But Christ died for us while we were still sinners. This is how God has shown his love for us.
Romans 5: 8

9 For we are justified by the blood of Christ. Then we must be saved by God’s wrath through Christ.

10 I mean that when we were enemies of God, God made us his friends through the death of his Son. That is why we are God’s friends now. Surely God will save us through the life of his Son.

11 Not only so, but we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ. Jesus who made us friends of God.
