Jehovah’s vision to Samuel

1 Samuel continued to serve Jehovah under Eli. In those days, the Lord often did not speak directly to the people, and there were very few visions.
1 Samuel 3: 1

2 Eli’s eyesight was so weak that he almost stopped seeing. One night he lay down on the bed and

3 Samuel was lying down in the Lord’s Holy House. The Lord’s Holy Box was in that holy house. Jehovah’s lamp was still burning.
1 Samuel 3: 3

4 The Lord called Samuel, and Samuel said, “Here I am.”
1 Samuel 3: 4

5 Samuel thought he was calling Eli, so he ran to Eli and said to Eli, “Here I am. Did you call me?” But Eli said, “I didn’t call you. You go to sleep.” Go. “Samuel went back to his bed.
1 Samuel 3: 5

6 The Lord called again, “Samuel!” Samuel ran to Eli again and said, “You called me, and I am here.” Eli said, “I did not call you. Go back to your bed.”
1 Samuel 3: 6

7 Samuel did not yet know the Lord. He had not yet received the word directly from the Lord.
1 Samuel 3: 7

8 The Lord called Samuel a third time. Samuel got up again and went to Eli and said, “I am here, you have called me.” Then Eli realized that it was Jehovah who was calling the boy.
1 Samuel 3: 8

9 Eli said to Samuel, “Go, go to your bed. If he calls you again, say, ‘Lord, tell me, your servant listens.'” So Samuel lay down on the bed.
1 Samuel 3: 9

10 And the LORD came and stood beside him, and said unto him, Samuel, Samuel, as he had said unto him.
1 Samuel 3:10

11 The Lord said to Samuel, “I am going to do something in Israel very soon. Anyone who hears this will be amazed.
1 Samuel 3:11

12 The day I judge Eli’s family, I will punish his family completely. I will do everything I say against his family – from beginning to end.
1 Samuel 3:12

13 I will do this because Eli knew that his sons were blaspheming God and doing bad things. And Eli could not control them.
1 Samuel 3:13

14 So I swear that the sacrifices and the grain offerings will never remove the sins of Eli’s family. “
1 Samuel 3:14

15 Samuel lay in bed until morning. He got up early in the morning and opened all the doors of God’s house. Samuel was afraid to tell Eli about the vision.
1 Samuel 3:15

16 But Eli said to Samuel, “Samuel, my son!” Samuel answered, “Yes, Lord.”
1 Samuel 3:16

17 Eli said, “What has the Lord said to you? Do not hide anything from me. If you hide from me what God has said to you, God will punish you severely.”
1 Samuel 3:17

18 So Samuel told Eli everything. Samuel did not hide anything from Eli. Eli said, “He is the Lord. He has the right to do whatever he wants.”
1 Samuel 3:18

19 The Lord was with Samuel as he grew up. Jehovah did not allow any of Samuel’s words to be false.
1 Samuel 3:19

20 And all Israel from Dan even to Beersheba knew that Samuel was prophet of the LORD.
1 Samuel 3:20

21 And the LORD appeared frequently to Samuel in Shiloh. For the Lord revealed himself to Samuel in Shiloh by his word.
1 Samuel 3:21
