
12 A human body has only one body, but it has many parts. Yes, the same body has many parts, but all these parts make only one body. So is Christ.

13 Some of us are Jews and some are non-Greeks; Some of us are slaves and some are free. But we are baptized through one Spirit, into one body. And this is the Spirit that is given to all of us.

14 And a person has more than one body part. It has many parts.

15 One foot can say, “I am not the hand. So I have nothing to do with my body. ” But just by saying this, the foot does not stop being a part of the body.

16 One ear says, I am not an eye, therefore I am not a part of the body. But just by saying this, the ear does not stop being a part of the body.

17 If the whole body were an eye, the body would not be able to hear. Or if the whole body was an ear, then the body could not smell anything.

18 For if every part of the body were one, there were no bodies. But as God pleased, he put the parts in the body. He has made room for everyone.

19 But if they were all the same, where would the body be?

20 So now, although there are many parts, there is only one body.

21 The eye cannot say to the hand, “I do not need you,” and the head cannot say, “I do not need you.”

22 No. The parts of the body that look weak are really needed.

23 And we pay special attention to those parts of the body which we consider less honorable. And the body parts that we don’t like to show, we pay special attention to them.

24 But the parts of our body that are beautiful do not need our special attention. But God put all the parts together to give them the more glory they need.

25 God did this so that our bodies would not be divided. It was God’s intention that all the members take the same care of each other.

26 If one part of the body suffers, all the other members suffer with it. Or if one organ gets honor then other organs also share in that honor.

27 You are the body of Christ all together. Every one of you is a part of this body.

28 And God hath given to each one a place in the church: first, the apostles; second, the prophets, and third, the teachers. Then God gave them a place. Those who perform miracles, those who have the gift of healing, those who are able to lead, and those who can speak in different languages.

29 Not all people are apostles. Not all people are prophets. Not all people are teachers. Not all people can perform miracles.

30 Not all people have the gift of healing. Not all people speak different languages. Not all people can interpret those languages.

31 But truly you should desire great gifts. And now I show you the best way.
