1 In the past, God spoke to our ancestors through prophets. God spoke to them.
Hebrews 1: 1
2 And now in these last days God has spoken to us again. God has spoken to us through his Son. God made the whole world through his Son. God made it through his Son. God chose his Son to be the heir of all things.

3 The Son represents the glory of God. He is a perfect copy of God’s nature. The Son binds everything by His mighty command. The Son cleansed the people from their sins. Then he sat down at the right hand of the Great One who lives in heaven.

4 God gave him a name greater than any angel’s name. And he became even greater than the angel.

Word of life
5 We have heard the true teaching from God. Now we tell you this; God is light. There is no darkness in God.
1 John 1: 5
6 Therefore if we say that we have fellowship with God, and keep on living in darkness, we are liars and do not tell the truth.

7 God is light. We too must live in the light. If we live in the light, we keep company with each other, if we live in the light. Jesus’ blood cleanses us from all sin.

8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.

9 But if we confess our sins, God will forgive us. We can trust God. He does what is right. He will forgive all the wrong things we have done.

10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar. We are not following God’s teachings.

God’s justice and grace
1 O great man, why dost thou boast of thy wicked deeds? You are a disgrace to God. You plan to do bad things all day long.
Psalm 52: 1
2 You make foolish plans, and your tongue is like a sharp razor. You lie all the time. You try to deceive people.
Psalm 52: 2
3 You love evil more than good. You love lies more than telling the truth.

4 You and your false tongue love to hurt people.
Psalm 52: 4
5 So God will destroy you forever. He will seize you and pull you out of your houses, just as a man pulls a plant out of the ground with its roots.

6 The righteous will see it and learn to fear and honor God. They will laugh at you and say,

7 See what happened to the man who did not trust in God. The man thought that his wealth and his lies would protect him.

8 But I am like a green olive tree that grows in the temple of God.
Psalm 52: 8
9 I praise thee, O God, for the works which thou hast done. I will pronounce your name before your followers because it is so good.
