Jesus’ Prayer on the Mount of Olives

39 Jesus left Jerusalem and went to the Mount of Olives. He used to go there often. His disciples went with him. Luke 22:39

40 And when they were come to that place, he said unto them, Pray that ye enter not into temptation.
Luke 22:40

41 Then Jesus walked about fifty feet away from them. He knelt down and prayed,
Luke 22:41

42 “Father! If you wish, take this cup of sorrow away from me, but it is your will, not mine. ”
Luke 22:42

43 And there appeared an angel unto him from heaven, strengthening him.
Luke 22:43

44 Jesus was in great distress, so he began to pray more earnestly. His sweat was falling on the ground like drops of blood.
Luke 22:44

45 After praying, he got up and went to his disciples. He saw them sleeping. Their sadness made them very tired.
Luke 22:45

46 Jesus said to them, “Why are you sleeping? Get up and pray that you will not fall into temptation. ”
Luke 22:46

About unmarried and widows

25 Now I write about people who are not married. I have no command from the Lord about this. But I give my opinion. You can trust me because the Lord was kind to me.
1 Corinthians 7:25

26 This is a difficult time. So I think it’s good for you to stay the way you are.
1 Corinthians 7:26

27 But if you have a wife, do not try to be free from her. If you have set yourself free from the wife, then do not try to find a wife.
1 Corinthians 7:27

28 But if you decide to get married, it is not a sin. And if an unmarried girl gets married, that too is not a sin. But those who get married will face difficulties in this life. I want you to be free from these problems.
1 Corinthians 7:28

29 Brothers and sisters, I mean this. We don’t have much time left. So from now on, married people should spend their time as if they did not have wives.
1 Corinthians 7:29

30 People who are sad should live as if they were not sad. People who are happy should live as if they were not happy. People who buy things should live as if they have nothing.
1 Corinthians 7:30

31 Those who use the things of the world should live as if they were of no value to them. You should stay that way because it is in the world now and will soon disappear.
1 Corinthians 7:31

32 I hope you are free from anxiety. An unmarried person is busy with the work of the Lord. His purpose is to please the Lord.
1 Corinthians 7:32

33 But he who is married is busy with the things of the world. He keeps on pleasing his wife.
1 Corinthians 7:33

34 He must think of two things: to please his wife and to please the Lord. An unmarried woman or a virgin girl is engaged in the work of the Lord. She wants to dedicate her body and soul completely to the Lord. But a married woman keeps busy in worldly affairs, she keeps trying to please her husband.
1 Corinthians 7:34

35 I say these things to help you. I’m not trying to limit you. But I want you to live well. I hope you surrender your whole self to the Lord, without spending it on other things.
1 Corinthians 7:35

36 One may think that he is not doing well, even though his virgin daughter is almost past the age of marriage. So he may think that marriage is important. He must do as he pleases. He should let her get married. That is not a sin.
1 Corinthians 7:36

37 But if any man will convince himself that there is no need of marriage, he is free to do as he pleases. If that person decides in his mind that he will not marry his daughter, then he is doing the right thing.
1 Corinthians 7:37

38 Therefore he who marries his virgin daughter is doing what is right. And he who does not marry his virgin daughter does better.
1 Corinthians 7:38

39 As long as the husband lives, the wife must stay with him. But if the husband dies, the wife can marry another man as she wishes. But she must marry the Lord.
1 Corinthians 7:39

40 She will be happier if she does not remarry. This is my opinion and I believe that the Spirit of God is in me.
1 Corinthians 7:40

Food offered to idols

1 Now I will write about the meat of the sacrifice which is offered to idols. We know that “we all have knowledge.” Knowledge fills you with pride. But love helps you to be stronger than others.
1 Corinthians 8: 1

2 A person who thinks he knows something does not know what he should know.
1 Corinthians 8: 2

3 But he who loves God knows him.
1 Corinthians 8: 3

4 Wherefore I say unto the idols, This is the way of eating flesh: for we know that idolatry is nothing in the world. We also know that there is only one God.
1 Corinthians 8: 4

5 It doesn’t really matter that some things on earth and in the sky are called gods. Many people call such things “gods” or “lords.”
1 Corinthians 8: 5

6 But we have only one God. He is our Father. Everything has come from Him and we live for Him alone. There is only one Lord. He is Jesus Christ. All things are created through him, and we also live through him.
1 Corinthians 8: 6

7 But not all people know this. Some people are still in the habit of worshiping idols. So when they eat this meat, they feel like it belongs to an idol. They do not know whether it is right to eat this meat or not. So when they eat this meat, they think they are doing wrong.
1 Corinthians 8: 7

8 But food does not bring us closer to God. By not eating meat, we do not lose anything or by eating, we do not gain anything.
1 Corinthians 8: 8

9 But beware of your freedom. Your own faith can make people weak.
1 Corinthians 8: 9

10 You have understanding, so you feel free to eat in the temple of idols. A person with a weak faith may see you eating there. This will also encourage him to eat the meat offered to the idols. But he actually misunderstands it.
1 Corinthians 8:10

11 So this weak brother can be destroyed because of your knowledge. And Christ was sacrificed for this brother.
1 Corinthians 8:11

12 When you cause your brothers and sisters in Christ to do something they think is wrong, you are sinning against them and hurting them. Then you are also sinning against Christ.
1 Corinthians 8:12

13 Therefore I will never again eat the flesh that I have caused my brother to fall into sin. I will stop eating meat so that I will not let my brother and sister fall into sin.
1 Corinthians 8:13
