Jeremiah’s Prayer

16 I prayed to the Lord after giving a copy of the bargain to Baruch son of Neriah. I said:
Jeremiah 32:16

17 “Lord God, you made the heavens and the earth. You made them with your great power. It is not very strange for you to do anything.
Jeremiah 32:17

18 Lord, you are faithful and kind to thousands of generations of people. But you also punish children for the sins of their parents. Great and mighty God, your name is the Lord All-Powerful.
Jeremiah 32:18

19 Lord, you make plans and do great things. You see everything people do. You reward those who do good and punish those who do evil – you give them what they deserve.
Jeremiah 32:19

20 Lord, you performed powerful miracles in the land of Egypt. You have performed powerful miracles to this day. You did the same things in Israel and where the people live. You have become famous because of these things.
Jeremiah 32:20

21 Lord, you used powerful miracles and brought your people out of Egypt and brought them to Israel. You used your powerful hand to do these things. Your power was amazing!
Jeremiah 32:21

22 “Lord, you gave this land to the people of Israel, which you promised to give to their ancestors long ago. It is a land full of many good things.
Jeremiah 32:22

23 The people of Israel came to this land and considered it as their land. But those people did not obey the order. They did not follow your law. They did not do what you told them to do. So you let these terrible things happen to the people of Israel.
Jeremiah 32:23

24 “And now, the enemy has laid siege to the city. They are building mounds so that they can climb the walls of Jerusalem and capture it. Babylon’s army is now attacking the city, Lord, you said it would happen – and now you see it happening.
Jeremiah 32:24

25 “Lord my Lord, all these bad things are happening. But now you are saying to me, ‘Jeremiah, buy a field for silver and choose some men to testify to this deal.’ You are telling me this when the Babylonian army is ready to take over the city.
Jeremiah 32:25

26 And the word of the LORD came unto Jeremiah, saying,
Jeremiah 32:26

27 I am the Lord. I am the God of every man on earth. Jeremiah, you know that nothing is impossible for me. “
Jeremiah 32:27

28 The Lord also said, “Soon I will hand over the city of Jerusalem to the army of Babylon and to King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon. That army will capture the city.
Jeremiah 32:28

29 The Babylonian army is already attacking the city of Jerusalem. She will soon enter the city and start a fire. They will burn the city. There are houses in this city where the people of Jerusalem have made me angry by sacrificing the false god Baal on the roofs of their houses. And the people poured out drink offerings to other gods. The Babylonian army will burn those houses to ashes.
Jeremiah 32:29

30 I have watched carefully the people of Israel and the people of Judah. Everything they do is evil. They have done bad things since they were young, and they have made me very angry with their deeds. “This message is from the Lord.
Jeremiah 32:30

31 “From the time that Jerusalem was built until now, the people of this city have made me angry. This city has made me so angry that I will surely take it out of my sight.
Jeremiah 32:31

32 I will destroy Jerusalem because of all the bad things that the people of Israel and the people of Judah have done. The people, their kings, their leaders, their priests and prophets, the people of Judah and the people of Jerusalem, have made me angry.
Jeremiah 32:32

33 “Those people should have come to me for help. But they turned away from me. I tried again and again to teach them. But they would not listen to me. I tried to correct them. But they did not listen.
Jeremiah 32:33

34 Those people made their idols – and I hate those idols. Those people have placed those idols in the temple called by my name. In this way they have ‘defiled’ my temple.
Jeremiah 32:34

35 “They have built high places for the false god Baal in the valley of Ben-Hinnom. They have built this place of worship so that they can sacrifice their sons and daughters to Molech. I have never given them such a terrible I never thought of doing things that would cause Judah to sin.
Jeremiah 32:35

Reconstruction of Jerusalem

8 For thus saith the LORD, Behold, I will plead thy cause, and I will hearken unto thy voice; and I will save thee, and I will keep thee, and I will keep thee, and thou shalt bear witness. It may be that I have made a covenant with the people, and now the land is ruined, but you will give that land back to the people who owned it.

The true knowledge of God

6 We also teach wisdom to those who are spiritually mature, but that wisdom does not belong to this world. This is not the wisdom of the rulers of this world. The wisdom of those rulers is being destroyed.
1 Corinthians 2: 6

7 But we are talking about the secret wisdom of God. This wisdom is hidden from the people. God has planned this wisdom for our glory. He had planned it before the creation of the world.
1 Corinthians 2: 7

8 None of the rulers of this world has understood this wisdom. If they had understood, they would not have crucified the glorious Lord.
1 Corinthians 2: 8

9 But as it is written, “No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no man has imagined what God has prepared for those who love him.”
1 Corinthians 2: 9

10 But God hath shewed these things unto us by the Spirit; and the Holy Ghost knoweth all things, the secret of God.
1 Corinthians 2:10

11 It is like this. No one knows another’s thoughts. In a man only the soul knows his thoughts. So is God. No one knows the thoughts of God. Only God’s Spirit knows those thoughts.
1 Corinthians 2:11

12 We have not received the spirit of the world. But we have received the Spirit from God. We have received this Spirit so that we may know the blessings that God has given us without price.
1 Corinthians 2:12

13 When we talk about these things, we do not use words that are taught to us by human wisdom. We use spiritual words to describe spiritual things.
1 Corinthians 2:13

14 He that is without spirit cannot understand the things that come of the Spirit of God. He thinks those things are foolish. Such a person cannot understand the things of the soul because such things can only be understood spiritually.
1 Corinthians 2:14

15 But the spiritual man is able to judge all things. As the Scriptures say, other people cannot test such a person.
1 Corinthians 2:15

16 “Who knows the mind of the Lord? Who can tell the Lord what to do?” But for you, you have the mind of Christ.
1 Corinthians 2:16
