How to Control the Tongue, Heavenly Wisdom.

How to control the tongue

1 My brethren, be not many masters, knowing that we which are teachers shall receive the greater condemnation.

2 For we are all sinners.  If one does not forget in the Word, then he is a perfect human being and can control the whole body.

3 When we put bridles in the mouths of horses to control them, we also turn their whole bodies.

4 Behold, the ships, though they be very great, and are driven of fierce winds, yet are they turned about with a very small helm, whithersoever the sailors go.

5 In the same way, the tongue is a small part, but it kills great things. See what a great forest is strengthened by a small fire!

6 The tongue is also a fire!  The world of sin in our limbs is the tongue, which stains the whole body and sets the life-cycle on fire and rises from the fire of hell itself!

7 For every kind of beast, and of birds, and of creeping things, and of things in the sea, is tamed, and hath been tamed of mankind:

8 But the tongue can no man tame;  It is a fickle force, full of destructive poison.

9 With him we bless the Lord and Father, and with him we curse men who are made in the image of God.

10 Out of the same mouth proceedeth praise and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not to be so.

11 Can sweet and salty water come out of the mouth of one fountain?

12 My brothers, is it possible for a fig tree to have olive fruit or a vine with figs?  In the same way, fresh water cannot come out of salt water.

Heavenly wisdom

13 Who is wise and understanding among you?  In that case, he should show his deeds from the good conduct with the gentleness that comes from wisdom.

14 But if ye have bitterness and strife in your hearts, glory not, and lie not against the truth.

15 This is not the wisdom that comes down from above, but is worldly, physical, and satanic.

16 For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work.

17 But the wisdom that is from above is first of all holy, then gentle, gentle, without stubbornness, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy.

18 The fruit of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace.

Abram delivers Lot, Melchizedek blesses Abram, God’s law, Glory to God in Creation.

Abram Delivers Lot

1 This happened in the days of Amaraphal king of Shinar, Arioch king of Ellasar, Kadarlaomer king of Elam, and Tidal king of Goim.

2 They fought against Bara, the king of Sodom, Birsa, the king of Amur, Sinab, the king of Admah, Sameber, the king of Zeboim, and Bala, the king of Zoar.

3 All these gathered together in the valley of Sidim, which is the salt sea.

4 For twelve years they were under Kadar Laumar, but in the thirteenth year they rebelled.

5 And in the fourteenth year Chedorlaomer, and the kings that came with him, and the king’s sons, and the children of Rephaim, and Astroth-karnaim,

6 And they smote the Horites in their mount Seir, even unto El Paran in the wilderness.

7 And they returned from thence, and came to En Mespat, that is, Kadesh, and smote all the country of the Amalekites, and the Amorites that dwelt in Hasson Tamar.

8 And the kings of Sodom, and Gomorrah, and Admah, and Zeboiim, and Bela, the sons of Zoar, went out, and set themselves in array against them in the valley of Sidon.

9 These are the four kings of Kadarlaomer king of Elam, Tidal king of Goim, Amaraphal king of Shinar, and Arioch king of Elasar.

10 The kings of Sodom and Gomorrah fled into the valley of Sidim, where there were only mud pits, and fell into them, and the survivors fled to the mountains.

11 And they took all the goods of Sodom and Gomorrah, and all their goods, and departed.

12 And they took Lot, Abram’s nephew, who dwelt in Sodom, and took away his goods.

13 Then came one of the fugitives unto Abram the Hebrew, saying, Abram Mamre the Amorite, the brother of Ashcol and Aner, dwelt by the oaks, and had made a covenant with Abram.

14 When Abram heard that his nephew had been taken captive, he took his three hundred and eighteen trained young men, who were born in his household, and pursued them to Dan.

15 And he made an army of young men, and slew them by night, and pursued after them as far as Hobah, which is on the north of Damascus.

16 He brought back all the goods, and his nephew Lot and all his possessions, and the women and all the captives.

Melchizedek blesses Abram

17 And it came to pass, when he had made an end of defeating Chedorlaomer and the kings that were with him, that he went out to meet the king of Sodom in the valley of the king, which is also called the valley of the king.
18 Then Melchizedek king of Salem brought bread and wine, a priest of the Most High God.

19 And he blessed him, saying, Blessed be Abram of the most high God, possessor of heaven and earth.

20 And blessed is the Most High God, who has subdued your enemies. Then Abram gave him tithes of all things.

21 And the king of Sodom said unto Abram, Give me this beast, and keep it for thyself.

22 But Abram said unto the king of Sodom, I have sworn unto the LORD of hosts, the God of heaven and earth,

23 That I shall not take of all thy goods, from the thread to the shoe, lest thou say, I have made Abram rich.

24 But what they have eaten, and the portion of the men that went with me, Aner, and Eshcol, and Mamre, I will not give back.

Psalm Chapter 18:1-14

Glory to God in creation

David’s hymn to the chief musician.

1 The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his hand.

2 Speaks with day, day with night, and night with night.

3 They have no language, no words, no voice.

4 Their voice resounds throughout the earth, and their words to the ends of the earth.  In them he has set up camp for the sun,

5 He that goeth forth as a bridegroom cometh out of his chamber, and walketh as a warrior, and rejoiceth in his way.

6 He is to ascend from one end of the heavens to the other end of the earth, and nothing is hidden from his heat.

God’s law

7 The law of the LORD is upright: it restoreth the soul: the testimony of the LORD is true: it maketh the simple to understand.

8 The commandments of the LORD are upright: they delight the heart; the commandment of the LORD is pure: he giveth light to the eyes.

9 The fear of the LORD is pure: he endureth for ever: the judgments of the LORD are true, they are all righteousness.

10 They are sweeter than gold, and much sweeter than fine gold, sweeter than honey and honey.

11 And from them thy servant is warned: and great is the reward of them that believe.

12 Who can understand his mistakes?  Set me free from hidden sins,

13 And hinder thy servant from pride, lest he should reign over me: I will be perfect, and I will be free from all sins.

14 O LORD, my rock and my deliverer, let the words of my mouth and the thoughts of my heart be acceptable unto thee.
