The promise of the Holy Spirit

15 “If you love me, you will keep my commandments.
John 14:15

16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Comforter, to be with you always.
John 14:16

17 The helper is the spirit of truth. This world cannot get him. Because the world has neither seen him nor knows him. But you know him, he lives with you, and he will be in you.
John 14:17

18 “I will not leave you alone as orphans. I will return to you.
John 14:18

19 Soon the people of this world will not see me, but you will see, because if I live, you will also live.
John 14:19

20 In that day you will know that I am in the Father, and you will know that I am in you, and I in you.
John 14:20

21 If anyone knows my commandments and keeps them, he is the one who truly loves me. My father will love that person too. Whoever loves me, I love him, and I will reveal myself to him. ”
John 14:21

22 Then said Judas (this is not Judas Iscariot), “Lord, why are you going to show us yourself and why don’t you show the world?”
John 14:22

23 Jesus said, “If anyone loves me, he will keep my words, and my Father will love him. My father and I will come to him and stay with him.
John 14:23

24 But he that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings. The teachings I give you are not my own, but those of my Father who sent me.
John 14:24

25 These things have I spoken unto you, being yet present with you.
John 14:25

26 But the Helper is the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name. He will teach you everything and he will remind you of everything I have told you.
John 14:26

27 “I leave peace for you. I give you my peace. I give you a different kind of peace from the world, so your heart should not be sad and nervous.
John 14:27

28 You have heard what I said to you. I told you, ‘I am going, but I will come back to you.’ Greater than me
John 14:28

29 For I have told you before it come to pass, that, when it is come to pass, ye might believe.
John 14:29

30 “I won’t talk to you for long. The ruler of this world is coming. He has no authority over me.
John 14:30

31 But let the world know that I love the Father. So I will do as my Father commanded me.
John 14:31

The demon-possessed man

31 And when he was come to Capernaum of Galilee, he taught them on the sabbath days.
Luke 4:31

32 And they were astonished at his doctrine: for his word was with power.
Luke 4:32

33 There was a man in the synagogue, possessed by an unclean spirit, and he cried out with a loud voice,

34 “O Jesus of Nazareth! What do you do with us? Are you here to destroy us? I know thee who thou art, the Holy One of God.
Luke 4:34

35 But Jesus restrained him and rebuked him, saying, “Shut up! And get out of this man. ” The evil spirit threw the man down on the ground in front of all the people, and then the evil spirit came out of the man without hurting him.

36 And they were all amazed, insomuch that they questioned among themselves, saying, What thing is this? That he commands the unclean spirits with power and authority, and they come out. ”

37 And the fame hereof went abroad into all that land.

Jesus’ Prayer on the Mount of Olives

39 Jesus left Jerusalem and went to the Mount of Olives. He used to go there often. His disciples went with him. Luke 22:39

40 And when they were come to that place, he said unto them, Pray that ye enter not into temptation.
Luke 22:40

41 Then Jesus walked about fifty feet away from them. He knelt down and prayed,

42 “Father! If you wish, take this cup of sorrow away from me, but it is your will, not mine. ”
Luke 22:42

43 And there appeared an angel unto him from heaven, strengthening him.
Luke 22:43

44 Jesus was in great distress, so he began to pray more earnestly. His sweat was falling on the ground like drops of blood.
Luke 22:44

45 After praying, he got up and went to his disciples. He saw them sleeping. Their sadness made them very tired.
Luke 22:45

46 Jesus said to them, “Why are you sleeping? Get up and pray that you will not fall into temptation. ”
