Death of Herod

20 Herod was very angry with the people of Tire and Sidon. They all came together to Herod. They succeeded in gaining the support of Blastus, the king’s special servant. They begged Herod for peace because his country was getting food from Herod’s country.
Acts 12:20

21 Herod set a date for them to meet. He was dressed in the most beautiful royal attire that day. He sat on his throne and gave a speech to the people.

22 The people began to shout, “This is the voice of a god, not of a man.”

23 Herod, not praising God, accepted all this praise for himself, so an angel of the Lord gave him a terrible disease. He fell ill and eventually died of worms.

24 And the word of the Lord was multiplied, and waxed exceeding great, and the number of the believers increased;

25 When Barnabas and Saul had finished their work in Jerusalem, they took with them John, also called Mark, and returned to Antioch.

New permission

31 When Judas left, Jesus said, “Now the Son of Man is glorified, and God is glorified in the Son of Man.

32 If God is glorified in him, he will glorify the Son of man in himself. And he shall glorify him.

33 Jesus said, “My little children, I will stay with you a little longer. Then you will look for me, but as I said to the Jews, I tell you now, you cannot come where I am going.

34 “I give you a new command. That is, you love one another. Love one another as I have loved you.

35 If you love one another, everyone will know that you are my disciples. ”

The final salutation – prayer and blessing

7 Tychicus, a beloved brother in Christ. He is a faithful servant, working with me for the Lord. He will give you all the news about me. Which are happening to me.

8 That is why I am sending him to you. I want you to know what we are talking about. And I am sending him to you for this very purpose.

11 Jesus, also called Justus, sends his greetings. These are the only Jewish believers who are working with me for the kingdom of God. They are a source of comfort to me.

12 Epaphras also greets you. He is one of your group and one of the servants of Christ Jesus. He always prays earnestly to God for all of you so that you may grow spiritually and receive all that God wants you to have.

13 I know he has worked hard for you and for the people of Laodicea and Hierapolis.

14 Demas and our dear friend the physician Luke, send greetings.

15 Greet the brothers and sisters in Laodicea. Greet Nymphas and the church that is attached to his house.

16 And when this epistle is read among you, make sure that it be read unto the church of Laodicea. And you read the letter I wrote to the church in Laodicea.

17 Say to Archippus, “Do what the Lord has given you to do.”
