Jesus’ Resurrection, Jesus Appears to Mary Magdalene, Jesus Appears to two disciples.

Jesus’ Resurrection

1 And it came to pass on the sabbath day, that Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James, and Salome, had bought some ointment, and they came and anointed it.
Mark 16: 1

2 On the first day of the week, very early in the morning, after sunrise, they came to the tomb.
Mark 16: 2

3 And they said one to another, Behold, a stone was rolled away from the door of the tomb;  Who will roll it aside for us? ”

4 But when they looked, they saw that the stone was rolled away from the entrance of the tomb.

5 As they entered the tomb, they saw a young man dressed in white sitting on the right side of the tomb.  She was shocked to see this.

6 But the man said, “Don’t be afraid.  You are looking for Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified.  He is resurrected.  He is not here.  Look!  This is the place where he was laid to rest.

7 Now go and tell his disciples, especially Peter, ‘Jesus has come to Galilee before you.  You will see him there as he told you. ‘”

8 The women were filled with fear and trembling, and ran away from the tomb.  They did not tell anyone because they were afraid. (Some of Mark’s Old Greek books end this book here.)

Jesus Appears to Mary Magdalene

9 On the first day of the week, at dawn, Jesus first appeared to Mary Magdalene, from whom he had cast out seven demons.

10 When she saw him, she went and told her disciples, who were weeping and gnashing their teeth.
Mark 16:10

11 But when he had said that he had been resurrected, and had seen him with his own eyes, the disciples did not believe him.

Jesus appears to two disciples

12 After this, Jesus appeared in another form to his two disciples who were walking along the road to their village.

13 And they went and told it unto the residue: neither believed they them.

Jesus appears to the eleven disciples

14 Later Jesus appeared to the eleven apostles while they were eating.  He rebuked them for their little faith and their stubbornness because they did not believe those who had seen him after he had risen from the dead.

15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.

16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.

17 And whosoever believeth on him shall do these signs; and they shall cast out devils in my name.  And they will speak new languages ​​that they have never learned.

18 They shall take up serpents in their hands, and if they drink any venomous thing, it shall not hurt them.  If they put their hands on the sick, they will be healed. ”

Introducing Jesus to Pilate


1 Early in the morning, the chief priests, the elders, the scribes, and all the Sanhedrin conspired together, bound him, and led him away, and delivered him to Pilate. Mark 15: 1


 2 And Pilate asked him, saying, Art thou the King of the Jews? Mark 15: 2


3 And the chief priests brought many witnesses against him, and said, Mark 15: 3


4 Then Pilate asked Jesus another question, “You know that these people are accusing you of many things.  Won’t you answer? Mark 15: 4


5 But Jesus still did not answer, and Pilate marveled. Mark 15: 5

The Crowd demanded: Barabbas released Jesus sentenced to be crucified

6 Every year at the Passover, the governor released a prisoner for whom the people begged. Mark 15: 6


7 At that time, a certain prisoner named Barabbas was in prison with the other rebels who had killed him during the rebellion. Mark 15: 7


8 People came to Pilate to free a prisoner. Mark 15: 8


9 Pilate saith unto them, Will ye that I release unto you the King of the Jews? Mark 15: 9


10 Pilate knew that they had betrayed him because of enmity. Mark 15:10


11 But the chief priests charged the people, that they should rather release Barabbas unto him. Mark 15:11


12 Then Pilate asked the people, “What do you want me to do with this man who is called the King of the Jews?” Mark 15:12


13 The people shouted again, “Crucify him!” Mark 15:13


14 Pilate asked, “Why?  What sin has he committed? ”But the people shouted louder,“ Crucify him! Mark 15:14


15 Pilate therefore pleased the people, and delivered Barabbas unto the people, and commanded them to be scourged.  Then he handed Jesus over to the soldiers to be crucified. Mark 15:15

16 Then Pilate’s soldiers took him, and brought him into the governor’s house. Mark 15:16


17 And they clothed him with purple, and platted a crown of thorns, and put it about his head, Mark 15:17


18 And they saluted Jesus, saying, Hail, King of the Jews! Mark 15:18


19 Soldiers repeatedly hit him on the head with sticks.  They spat on him and repeatedly mocked him. Mark 15:19


20 And when they had mocked him, they took off the purple from him, and put his own clothes on him, and led him out of the house to crucify him. Mark 15:20

Jesus being crucified

21 On the way they saw a Cyrene man  The man was Simon, the father of Alexander and Rufus.  He was on his way to the city from the fields, and the soldiers forced him to carry Jesus’ cross. Mark 15:21


 22 And they brought him unto a place called Golgotha, which is, being interpreted, The place of a skull. Mark 15:22


23 And when they were come, they mixed it with wine, and gave him to drink, but he would not drink. Mark 15:23


24 And they crucified him, and parted his garments, casting lots upon them, what every man should take.  They multiplied the clothes and distributed them among themselves. Mark 15:24


25 It was about nine o’clock in the morning when they crucified him. Mark 15:25


26 And there was a scroll with the words, Mark 15:26


 27 And they crucified two thieves with him.  One to his right and the other to his left. Mark 15:27

28 And the scripture is fulfilled which saith, He is numbered with the transgressors.  Mark 15:28


29 And those who passed by mocked him.  “They shook their heads and said, ‘Bats!  You said you could destroy this temple and build it in three days. Mark 15:29


30 So now come down and save yourself! ” Mark 15:30


31 The chief priests and the teachers of the law were standing there.  They made fun of Jesus, just like everyone else.  They said to each other, “He saved others, but he could not save himself. Mark 15:31


32 If he is the Christ, the King of true Israel, let him now come down from the cross and save himself, then we will believe in him again. ”  The thieves on his left and on his right made fun of him. Mark 15:32

Jesus’ death on the cross

33 At noon, darkness covered the whole land.  And it was dark until three o’clock in the afternoon. Mark 15:33


 34 About three o’clock Jesus cried out, “My God, my God, why have you left me alone?” Mark 15:34


35 Some people standing there heard this shout and said, “Listen!  He is calling Elijah. ” Mark 15:35


36 A man ran and brought a sponge, dipped it in vinegar, and bound the sponge with a stick, and gave it to Jesus to drink.  The man said, “We must wait and see if Elijah comes to take him down from the cross.” Mark 15:36


37 Then Jesus cried out with a loud voice, and he died. Mark 15:37


38 When Jesus died, the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom. Mark 15:38


39 And when the centurion, which stood over against him, saw that he was dead, he said, Truly this man was the Son of God. Mark 15:39


40 Some women were watching from a distance.  Among them were Mary Magdalene, Salome and Jacob, and Mary the mother of Joses. Jacob was the youngest son. Mark 15:40


41 Now when Jesus was in Galilee, these women were with him and took care of him.  Many other women were also present.  These women had come with him from Jerusalem. Mark 15:41

Jesus’ death on the cross

42 This day was called the Preparation Day (meaning the day before the Sabbath) and it was getting dark. Mark 15:42


43 Joseph of Arimathea was an eminent member of the synagogue, waiting for the kingdom of God.  He boldly approached Pilate and asked for Jesus’ body. Mark 15:43


44 Pilate was surprised to hear that Jesus was already dead.  He called an army governor and asked him if he was really dead. Mark 15:44


45 The centurion told Pilate that Jesus was dead.  And when he heard it, he gave it to Joseph. Mark 15:45


46 And Joseph bought a linen cloth, and took him down, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger;  Then Joseph put the body in the tomb that was cut out of the rock and put a big stone to cover the entrance to the tomb. Mark 15:46


47 And Mary Magdalene and Mary the mother of Joses beheld where he was laid. Mark 15:47

36 Then Jesus went with his disciples to a place called Gethsemane, and said to them, “Sit here while I am praying.”

37 Jesus asked Peter and the two sons of Zebedee to come with him, but at the same time Jesus looked very sad and anxious. Matthew 26:37


38 Jesus said to Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, “My soul is full of sorrow, and my heart is broken with sorrow.  Stay here with me and wait. ” Matthew 26:38


39 Then Jesus went a little farther on.  Jesus fell on his face and prayed, “My Father, if this is possible, take this cup of sorrow.  But do what you want, not what I want. ” Matthew 26:39


40 Then Jesus came to his disciples and found them sleeping.  Jesus said to Peter, “Can you not watch with me for an hour? Matthew 26:40


41 Watch and pray that you may not enter into temptation.  The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak. ” Matthew 26:41


42 And he went away again the second time, and prayed, saying, My Father, if this cup may not pass away from me, except I bear it, I wish thy will were done. Matthew 26:42


43 When Jesus returned, he found his disciples asleep.  His eyes were tired. Matthew 26:43


44 And he departed again, and went away again, and prayed the third time, saying the same words. Matthew 26:44


45 Jesus went back to the disciples and said, “Are you still sleeping and resting?  Behold, the hour is at hand, and the Son of man is betrayed into the hands of sinners. Matthew 26:45


46 Behold, he who betrays me has come into my hands. ” Matthew 26:46


Jesus being caught

47 While he was still speaking, Judas, one of the twelve disciples, came.  And many that were sent by the chief priests and the elders of the people were with him.  They had swords and clubs.

48 Judas had given them this sign: “The man I kiss is Jesus.  Arrest him. “

49 Judas went straight to Jesus and said, “Hail, Master!”  Then he kissed her. Matthew 26:49


50 Jesus answered, “Friend, do what you have come here to do.” Immediately the men came forward and seized Jesus and arrested him. Matthew 26:50


51 And it came to pass, as one of Jesus’ disciples drew his sword, and smote the high priest’s servant, and cut off his ear. Matthew 26:51


52 Jesus saith unto her, Put up again thy sword into his place: for all they that take the sword shall perish with the sword. Matthew 26:52


53 Do you not know that I can petition my Father, and he will at once send me more than twelve legions of angels? Matthew 26:53


54 But it must happen so that it will be just as the Scriptures say. ” Matthew 26:54


55 And he said unto them, Are ye come out, as against a robber, with swords and staves to seize me?  Every day I sat in the temple area and taught the people, but you did not arrest me. Matthew 26:55


56 But all this was done, that the scriptures of the prophets might be fulfilled.  Then all the disciples left him and fled. Matthew 26:56

Jesus is to be brought before the Sanhedrin

57 Those who had arrested Jesus took him to the house of Caiaphas the high priest, where the teachers of the law and the elders were gathered. Matthew 26:57


58 And as he was being brought to the high priest’s house, Peter followed him afar off:  He entered the courtyard and sat down with the soldiers.  He was eager to see what would happen to Jesus in the end. Matthew 26:58


59 The chief priests and the whole Sanhedrin were looking for false witnesses against Jesus.  So that they could kill him.  They were trying to find people who would say something against Jesus. Matthew 26:59


60 Many people came forward and told lies about Jesus.  But they could not find any such evidence.  Then two men came out and said, Matthew 26:60


61 “This man said, ‘I can destroy the temple of God, and I will rebuild it in three days.’” Matthew 26:61


62 And the high priest arose, and said unto him, These men accuse thee.  Don’t you have an answer?  Are these people telling the truth?  Matthew 26:62


63 But Jesus said nothing. Again the high priest asked Jesus, “I swear to you by the living God, and you tell us, ‘Are you the Christ, the Son of God?’ Matthew 26:63


64 Jesus answered, “Yes, I am.  But I say unto you, That in the future ye shall see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of God, and coming out of the clouds of heaven. Matthew 26:64


65 When the high priest heard this, he became very angry.  Then he tore his clothes and said, “This man has said things that are against God, so we don’t need any more testimony.  You have all heard him speak against God. Matthew 26:65


66 What do you think? ”The Jews answered,“ He is guilty, and he must be put to death. ” Matthew 26:66


67 And they spit on him, and smote him.  Others slapped Jesus. Matthew 26:67


68 They said, “Show that you are a prophet.  O Christ, prophesy who struck you. ” Matthew 26:68

To be denied by Peter

69 Peter sat in the courtyard all the time.  A servant girl came to Peter and said, “You are with Jesus of Galilee.” Matthew 26:69


70 But Peter denied it all, saying, “I don’t know what you are talking about.” Matthew 26:70


71 Then Peter went out of the courtyard.  And a certain maid saw him by the gate, and said unto him, This is Jesus of Nazareth. Matthew 26:71


72 Then Peter denied the oath, saying, I know not this man. Matthew 26:72


73 And after a while came unto him all that stood by, and said unto Peter, By thy word we know that thou art one of them. Matthew 26:73


74 And he began to curse, and said, I swear by God, I know not this man.  As Peter said this, the rooster crowed. Matthew 26:74


75 Then Peter remembered what Jesus had said to him: “Before the rooster crows, you will deny me three times.”  Then Peter went out, and wept bitterly.
