5 But he was punished for our evil deeds. He was crushed for our sins. The debt that was on our heads – our punishment – he got it. We were healed because of his punishment. We got healed (forgiven) because of his pain. Isaiah 53: 5

Isaiah 53: 2

3 People made fun of him, and his friends left him.  He was a man in great pain.  He was well aware of the sadness.  People didn’t even respect him enough to look at him carefully.  We didn’t pay attention to him.

Isaiah 53:10

11 He will suffer much in his spirit, but he will see the good things that will happen.  He will be satisfied with what he has learned.  My good servant will make many people innocent, he will take away their sin.
Isaiah 53:11

12 That is why I will reward him from among my people.  He will share in all the things of those who are strong.  I will do this for him because he died and gave his life for the people. People said he was a criminal.  But the truth is that he took away the sins of many people.  And now he speaks for those who have sinned. “
Isaiah 53:12
