30 So what did all this mean? This means that; Non-Jews who were not trying to be righteous were made righteous. They became righteous because of their faith.
Romans 9:30

31 And the people of Israel accepted the law to make themselves righteous, but they did not do it.
Romans 9:31

32 Why? Because they were trying to be righteous by their actions, not by faith. They get stuck on the rocks that cause people to stumble.
Romans 9:32

33 The Scriptures say of this stone, “Behold, I lay in Zion a stone that will cause people to stumble, and it is a rock that causes people to sin, but the person who believes in that rock will not be disappointed. ”
