
1 When Abram was 99 years old, the Lord appeared to him. The Lord said, “I am the Almighty God. Do these things for me: obey my commands and live in the right way.
Genesis 17: 1
2 If you do this, I will make an agreement between you and me. I will make your people a great nation.
Genesis 17: 2
3 Then Abram worshiped God. God said to him,
Genesis 17: 3
4 This is my covenant: I will make thee a father of many nations.
Genesis 17: 4
5 I will change your name. Your name will not be Abram – your name will be Abraham. I will give you this name because I am making you the father of many nations.
Genesis 17: 5
6 I will give you many descendants. New nations and kings will be born from you.
Genesis 17: 6
7 I am establishing my covenant between me and you and your descendants forever. I will be your God and the God of all your descendants.
Genesis 17: 7
8 And I will give this land unto thee, and unto thy seed after thee. I will give you the land you are passing through – the land of Canaan. I will give this land to you forever. And I will be your God.
Genesis 17: 8
9 And God said unto Abraham, This is thy covenant; You and your descendants will keep my agreement.
Genesis 17: 9
10 This is the agreement you will keep. This agreement is between you and me. This is for all your descendants: every boy born must be circumcised.
Genesis 17:10
11 You will cut off the flesh to show that you are obeying the agreement between me and you.
Genesis 17:11
12 When the son is eight days old, you must circumcise him. Any boy born in your house or even in the house of a foreign slave whom you have bought who does not belong to you must be circumcised.
Genesis 17:12
13 So every male among your descendants will be circumcised. Any boy born into your family or bought as a slave must be circumcised. In this way, my agreement will be marked on your bodies as an eternal agreement.
Genesis 17:13
14 This is the covenant between me and thee, Abraham: whosoever is not circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin shall be cut off from among his people. For he hath broken my covenant.
Genesis 17:14
15 God said to Abraham, “I will give your wife Sarai a new name. Her name will be Sarah.
Genesis 17:15
16 I will bless him. I will give him a son, and you will be his father. She will be the mother of many new nations. It will produce kings of the nations. ”
Genesis 17:16
17 Abraham bowed down to the earth to show his reverence for God. But he laughed and thought to himself, “I am 100 years old. I can’t have a son. And Sarah is 90 years old. She can’t have a baby. ”
Genesis 17:17
18 Then Abraham said to God, “Can’t you continue your promise through Ishmael?”
Genesis 17:18
19 God said, “No! I said that your wife Sarah would give birth to a son. You name him Isaac. I will make a contract with him. That agreement will be an agreement that will continue forever with his successors.
Genesis 17:19
20 “You mentioned Ishmael. And I have heard. I will bless him. She will have many children. He will be the father of twelve great leaders. His family will become a great nation.
Genesis 17:20
21 But I will make my agreement with Isaac. Isaac will be the son Sarah will give birth to. This son will be born at this time next year. ”
Genesis 17:21
22 When God had spoken to Abraham, he ascended into heaven.
Genesis 17:22
23 God told Abraham to circumcise all the men and boys in his family. So Abraham gathered Ishmael and all the slaves born in his house. Abraham also collected the slaves who were bought with money. Every man and boy in Abraham’s house was gathered together and circumcised, as God had said.

24 Abraham was 99 years old when he was circumcised.
Genesis 17:24
25 And Ishmael his son was thirteen years old when he was circumcised.
Genesis 17:25
26 Abraham and his son Ishmael were circumcised on the same day.
Genesis 17:26
27 And all the house of Abraham was circumcised on the same day. All the slaves born in his house and all the slaves he bought were circumcised.
